Appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom in July 2026, Elizabeth Elias serves as Bureau Chief of the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education. Prior to her appointment, Elias served as the Bureau's Deputy Bureau Chief of Enforcement and oversaw major enforcement and regulatory initiatives that strengthened consumer protection, program integrity, and statewide accountability. She brings more than two decades of public service leadership, including key roles within the Department of Consumer Affairs at the Dental Hygiene Board of California, and the Board of Registered Nursing. She is known for her steady judgment, collaborative approach, and commitment to transparent, effective oversight. A Sacramento native, Elias remains dedicated to protecting Californians and upholding the standards of the state’s private postsecondary education system.
